Amanda Selm – President
Amanda is from Louisville, KY. When she is not handling ACB Next Generation business, her full-time job is being a wife and a mom of two girls. She is an active member and a founder of KCB Next Generation and an active member of the Kentucky Council of the Blind. One of Amanda’s newest favorite areas of interest is advocacy. She enjoys spending time with family, from attending gatherings to going on vacation. Her other interests include knitting, photography, event planning, and yoga. “ACB Next Generation has something for everyone, and my hope is that you find your place within our family,” Amanda says.
Matt Selm – 1st Vice President
Matt lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife Amanda and two children. He has a Bachelors in Psychology and a Master of Education from the University of Louisville and is employed at Humana. He is the President of the Kentucky Council of the Blind and serves on several ACB committees including the Berl Colley Leadership Institute. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and Louisville Cardinals, and anything related to history.
Steven Salas – 2nd Vice President
Steven was born and raised in Texas with Glaucoma and lost his sight at 22. He attended his first Austin Council of the Blind meeting in 2017, elected Vice-President in 2019, finished his AA in Music Business, and was the 2019 DKM First-Timer – West. He joined the ACB Next Generation Steering Committee to start the PR Subcommittee, played a major role in getting ACB Next Generation certified as a Special Interest Affiliate, and was elected 2nd Vice President in 2020. He also serves on the Board of the AABT and is pursuing his BA in Special Education, while awaiting the arrival of his first child.
Greg Lindberg – Secretary
Greg resides in Wesley Chapel, FL and works as a digital content manager for a university. He holds a BA in Mass Communication and an MA in Journalism and Media Studies. Greg has been an ACB member since 2013 and has held leadership roles within the Pinellas Council of the Blind, Florida Council of the Blind, and ACB Next Generation. He is currently the Secretary, chairs the Publications Committee, and is a member of the PR and Membership Committees. Greg hosts the “Eyes Free Sports” podcast and loves playing beep baseball.
Maria Kristic – Treasurer
Maria works as a financial analyst for a New York state public authority. She holds a JD in Finance Transactions and an MBA in Finance. She joined ACB in 2016 and has held leadership positions in several of its affiliates and committees since then. Maria has been a member of ACB Next Generation since its founding. She serves as its Treasurer, chair of its Budget and Finance Committee, and is a member of its Constitution, Bylaws, and Resolutions Committee and Fundraising Committee. Maria lives in upstate New York with her Chocolate Lab guide dog.
MOe Carpenter – Director
MOe is a married mom of four boys living in Iowa and has LCA. She is obsessed with all things fiber arts related, which led her to start her own YouTube channel, Unseen Strands. While she has no college education, she is not afraid to search out knowledge. As a newer member to ACB, she is currently only part of ACB Next Generation, where she is a Director on the Board, Chair of the Fundraising Committee, and member of the PR, Membership, Convention, and Programs Committees. She also loves the water, dolphins, and the color sapphire and her family also has four pets.
Aaron Espinoza – Director
Aaron is a student in California. He is a triple major, majoring in social psychology, rehabilitation, and computer science. He is a giant New England Patriots fan. His main passion is anything related to blindness.
Byron Lee – Director
Byron is an Assistive Technology Specialist at State Services for the Blind of Minnesota in the Senior Services Unit. Having been involved in ACB since 2003, Byron has streamed local and national conventions, produced radio programs for ACB Media including Pride Connection and Sunday Edition. He is heavily involved with Blind LGBT Pride International and is currently on the board of ACB Next Generation. He is on the ACB Next Generation Programs Committee where you may have heard him on Saturday Night Live Hangouts and other Community Calls. He is the sound man behind our events such as Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, Jeopardy, and our Summer Campfire.
Onkar Nerurkar – Director
Onkar lives in the beautiful state of Hawaii aka The Aloha State. He loves to travel, try different cuisines, the outdoors, tinkering around with computers and technology and watching movies. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Information Security and Assurance and a Master’s degree in Information Technology. Besides being on the board, he sits on the Membership and Web site Committees and also participates in his state affiliate’s affairs. Outside the blind community, he volunteers his time as a coach for Special Olympics Hawaii where he coaches soccer, track & field, and bocce ball.
Melanie Sinohui – Ex Oficio
Convention Committee Chair
Melanie has been involved in ACB since the mid-1990s in Texas, West Virginia and California, elected as a Director for ACB Texas at 19, and was the 2005 DKM First-Timer – West. She resides in Phoenix, chairs our Convention Committee, is 1st Vice President of Arizona’s Central Chapter, and a Director on the AzCB board. Melanie holds a B.A. in Journalism – PR and an M.S. in Project Management. She has worked for a telecommunications company for the last 13 years and is a Customer Experience project manager. Melanie and her husband enjoy cooking, traveling, wine tasting in California, and spending time with “framily”.
Tyanne Wilmath – Ex Oficio
Programs Committee Chair
Tyanne is from Portland, Oregon, a guide dog user, and married with two girls. She was born in South Korea and adopted when at 2 years old. She has Infantile Glaucoma and Cornia infections and has no vision in her left eye and some residual vision in her right eye. She enjoys fiber arts, hula hooping, Dragon boating, playing the piano, solving the Rubik’s cube, and hanging out with friends. She is also the Vice President of her local ACB chapter, joined ACB Next Generation last year, and is glad to be the Chair of the Programs Committee.
